Project Management Miscommunication is a No-No

Does this remind you of your last project?   This is one of my favorite comic strips about ERP implementations.  I first came across this comic strip about 4 years ago.  It was posted outside of my client's cubicle.  I thought it so poignantly identified how easily miscommunication can occur during a project.
Project Management Miscommunication

Caption for each frame:
1.  How the customer explained it.
2. How the Project Leader understood it.
3. How the analyst designed it.
4. How the programmer wrote it.
5. How the business consultant described it.
6. How the project was documented.
7. What Operations installed.
8. How the customer was billed.
9. How it was supported.
10. What the customer really needed.

Whenever you have a team of people working together for a common cause, it becomes imperative that the right hand knows what the left hand is doing so that there is no miscommunication.  Certainly there will be times that it happens, but those times need to be minimal.

This blog attempts to teach the basics of Project Management to those of you who are curious about it, experiencing it now, or aspire to be project managers in the future.  Happy reading!
